Historic Grand Prix cars confirmed for Oulton Park Gold Cup

Wednesday, August 11 2010

Classic Grand Prix cars of the 1950s and 60s are among the highlights of this year's Oulton Park Gold Cup, which takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend (29/30 August).

Tickets are now on sale for just £17 for adults - saving you up to £15 on the gate price - with free entry for children aged 12 and under.

Hundreds of classic single seaters, saloons and sportscars have already been confirmed for this year's Gold Cup, and Oulton Park will be recapturing the sights and sounds of its Formula One heyday with racing from the Historic Grand Prix Car Association.

Among the magnificent Grand Prix machinery reviving the picturesque circuit's F1 glory days will be 1950s Cooper Bristols, 1960s Lotuses, a Lola Mk4 and a collection of Cooper T45s.

Five times Gold Cup winner Sir Stirling Moss will be guest of honour at this years event, as the 80-year-old will pilot an Osca sportscar in a special trophy race - exactly 50 years after he clinched Gold Cup victory over Jack Brabham and Graham Hill in a Lotus 18. In fact, a quartet of Lotus 18s are among this year's Historic Grand Prix Car Association contingent.

You can also look forward to a celebration of the iconic Audi Quattro's 30th anniversary, along with demonstrations from a Silk Cut Group C Jaguar, Bentley Speed 8 Le Mans car and Group B rally cars.

Plus, there will be track action from spectacular machinery including the Derek Bell Trophy for Historic Formula 5000 and F2 cars, the Guards Trophy for pre-1966 GT and Sports Racing cars, Historic Formula Junior, one litre 'screamer' F3 cars, Historic Formula Ford and Classic Touring Cars.
