Record number of classic display cars to feature at Oulton Park Gold Cup

Wednesday, August 25 2010

The Oulton Park Gold Cup this Bank Holiday weekend (29-30 August) is shaping up to be a feast of nostalgia with over 900 classic cars set to be displayed around the scenic grounds, as well as several hundred more participating in a packed timetable of racing.

This year's display is set to be bigger than ever, with highlights including 29 classic Rolls Royce vehicles from the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club, featuring a rare example of the Silver Ghost that was in production from 1906-1926.

The UK Quattro Owners Club will be exhibiting 58 Audi Quattros to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic saloon that saw great success in rallying, with several rally versions of the car included in the display.

A collection of Metro 6R4s will also add to the rallying flavour, while over 30 classic Porsches will be on show from the Porsche Club GB, including several early 911 examples.

Other clubs among the dozens scheduled to display cars include the Morgan Sports Car Club, Mini Cooper Register, and Jaguar Enthusiasts Club.

This huge display caps off a truly epic festival of historic racing, with more than 480 vehicles and 500 drivers confirmed to take part in the action on track, including Sir Stirling Moss, who will compete in the "Sir Stirling Moss Trophy" race exactly 50 years after winning the 1960 Gold Cup in a Lotus 18.

Tickets for the Oulton Park Gold Cup on 29/30 August are available on the gate for £21 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link beliow.
