Single seaters and powerful saloons head to Oulton Park

Sunday, August 08 2010

The British Racing and Sports Car Club visits Oulton Park this Saturday (14 August) for an action packed day of club motorsport.

Exciting single seater action will be provided by the Formula Jedi Championship featuring powerful light weight 'slicks and wings' cars powered by motorcycle engines.

These ear splitting cars which rev up to 15,000RPM accelerate from 0-60 in just 3 seconds, and can achieve a top speed of 150mph. Jack Smith heads the standings on 210 points, 12 points ahead of Richard Gittings in second, with just two points separating him from Scott Stevens and Andrew Dunn.

Further single seater action will be provided by the Formula Ford Northern Championship, catering for cars from pre-1990 and post-1989.

In the post-1989 category, Jordan Skinner has proved to be unbeatable, and has almost double the points of nearest contender Stuart Gough, having won all but one of this years races. Its much closer in the pre-1990 section though, with just two points separating the top two of John Farrell and Lee Hannam.

Sports and saloon car fans are also in for a treat, with action from the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge which is new for 2010.

Being a series rather than a championship, the highest points scorer at the end of the year wins the 'Driver of the Year' award, and cars in action include the 997, 996 and an invitation class.

Further action is provided from the Porsche Club Championship and Ford XR Challenge.

Tickets for the British Racing and Sports Car Club at Oulton Park on 14 August are available on the gate for £12 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
