Tom Chilton leads the way in free practice two

Saturday, June 05 2010

The Team Aon Ford Focus of Tom Chilton has topped the timesheets once again in the second free practice session for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park today (Saturday 5 June).

In a repeat of this morning's opening session, Chilton set the pace ahead of the Honda Racing Civic of Gordon Shedden, with just 0.025s separating the pair - exactly the same gap as in free practice one!

However, the duo were joined at the sharp end of the field by championship leader Jason Plato in third place, whose Silverline Chevrolet showed stronger pace in the second 40 minute outing after ending session one in eighth position.

Plato's team-mate Alex MacDowall finished fourth ahead of the second Team Aon Ford Focus of Tom Onslow-Cole, with joint points leader Honda Racing's Matt Neal in sixth position.

After running as high as fourth in free practice one, Airwaves BMW's Mat Jackson had to settle for seventh in the second session ahead of Triple Eight's James Nash.

The Sunshine.co.uk-backed Honda Integra of Paul O'Neill broke into the top ten for the first time in ninth place, with WSR BMW's Rob Collard rounding out the top ten.

There were woes for Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan, who was forced to return his Vauxhall Vectra to the garage early so the team can complete an engine change ahead of qualifying, which gets underway at 3.05pm.
