Oulton Park to pay homage to Mike Hawthorn this weekend

Friday, May 14 2010

The Vintage Sports Car Club visits Oulton Park this Saturday (22 May) for its annual series of races in honour of Britain's first Formula One World Champion Mike Hawthorn.

Historic vehicles from as far back as the 1920s will race around Oulton Park's International circuit, including early front-engined Formula One cars from the 1950s.

Off track will be a display of stunning vintage machinery with the Cheshire Concours overlooking some of the circuit's best viewing positions, the overall winner taking away the Cheshire Cup.

A nostalgic programme of eleven races gets underway just after 1pm including 1950s Sports Racing Cars, Pre 1961 Historic Racing Cars, Vintage Racing Cars and Pre-war Sports-Cars. Practice and qualifying commences at 9am.

Tickets for the Hawthorn Memorial at Oulton Park on 22 May are available for £20 on the gate for adults, with free entry for children ages 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
