Kiyo captures top spot ahead of qualifying

Saturday, October 09 2010

Title Fighter Ryuichi Kiyonari threatened to strike back in the final free practice session at Oulton Park this morning and that is what he did, as the HM Plant Honda rider topped the times as the pressure mounts ahead of qualifying and today's opening race.

Kiyonari set the fastest lap of the weekend so far with a time of 1m:36.205s to maintain the advantage over championship leader Tommy Hill in second on the Worx Crescent Suzuki. Michael Laverty was the first of the Relentless Suzukis in third as he prepares to try and close the gap to the leading trio in the opening race of the weekend.

Michael Rutter on the Ridersmotorcycles.com Ducati dropped to fourth in the closing stages of the session when Laverty moved up the order and yesterday's pace setter James Ellison was fifth fastest on the Swan Honda.

Josh Brookes who was the fastest of the Title Fighters yesterday was eighth on the second of the HM Plant Hondas, whilst Alastair Seeley continued to try and overcome setting woes and ended the session sixteenth fastest.
