BRSCC sports cars and single seaters head to Oulton Park

Monday, June 13 2011

The British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) heads to Oulton Park this Saturday (18 June) with a selection of prestige championships ready for action at the Cheshire circuit.

The design911.com Porsche Championship is expected to provide two fascinating races, with drivers desperate to increase their chances of glory come the end of the season. The championship is split into two classes for Boxter and 924 machinery.

David Clark is the man to beat in the Boxter class, after opening up a nine-point lead in the championship, courtesy of a double win at Cadwell Park last time out. Gerry Taylor and Rick Styrin will lead the charge to close the gap in the title race. The battle for top honours in the 924 category is much closer, with just four points separating the top three. Alfred Piesinger, who is leading the standings by two points, will hope to extend his advantage over Jayson Flegg and Andrew Hannington.

Joining the Porsches at the 2.7-mile track is the popular Mazda MX5 Championship and Mazda MX5 Cup. The Mazda MX5 Championship caters for MK1 cars from the Japanese marque, while the MX5 Cup is designed for the modern MK3 version. The convertible sports cars will be involved in six races throughout the day.

Thrills and spills will be on offer when the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship takes to the track for round eight of the season. John Murphy holds a commanding lead in the post-89 class, while John Loebell is top of the points' standings in the pre-90 class.

Tickets for the BRSCC Club Car Championships at Oulton Park are available on the gate priced at £13 for adults with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
