Classic sports cars set for Oulton Park battle

Monday, June 20 2011

An impressive array of classic sports cars will line up on the grid at Oulton Park for the latest round of the Classic Sports Car Championships this Saturday (June 25).

A superb line up of vintage machinery from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, including MGs, Jaguars, Morgans and Aston Martins are expected to do battle. The familiar noise of F5000 cars will echo around the circuit with an impressive selection set to compete in the F5000 MSC Challenge.

The Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC) was set up in 2001 by enthusiast racers who wanted to offer racing at grass roots level. Since then the club has attracted more than 800 members and runs ten race weekends a year.

On Saturday there will be a host of championships competing around the 2.6-mile Cheshire circuit. The Swinging Sixties Championship will see contemporary sports, GTs and saloon cars taking to the track. Vintage cars built between 1947 and 1965 will line up on the grid to take part in the Classic K series.

Close racing is expected when a selection of iconic Jaguars compete in the Jaguar Classic Parts Saloon/JEC Jaguar XJS Championship.

The Gold Arts CSCC Magnificent Sevens and Aero Racing Morgan Challenge caters for the famous Caterham Seven and Morgan sports cars.
