MSVR sportscars star at Oulton Park this Saturday

Sunday, May 08 2011

A feast of exciting races are on the bill at Oulton Park this Saturday (14 May), using the full International configuration that provides the greatest of challenges on track and superb entertainment!

Sportscar action starts with two Radical Championships, with the Radical Clubman's Cup offering fast, affordable racing for Radical's range of four-cylinder cars. David Jacobs and James Abbot were the form men at the opening rounds and will be looking for more wins here.

The Radical UK Cup, for both professional and amateur drivers, consists of two 40-minute endurance format races with a pitstop for driver changes. At the first rounds of the season, the Radical Works Team pairing of Shaun Balfe and Roger Bromiley scooped victory in Race 1, with Swedish solo driver Per Staaf Jnr taking the win in Race 2. The Oulton Park round comes just a week after the drivers race at the equally challenging Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

The Lotus-on-Track Elise Trophy goes from strength to strength, with a single-class format continuing to provide superb racing, with most of the field making their first steps in racing in the series. Ken Savage and Steve Quick have taken most of the wins this season but expect Luigi Mazza and Stuart Rowland to be in the hunt.

GT sprint racing is at its best with the GT Cup and Andy Ruhan's Porsche 997 GT3 holds a lead over David Tomlin's Ferrari 430 after the opening rounds, where the former took a double victory. Lying in third at this early stage is the Group 2 XTM X-Bow of Benjamin Harvey, whilst Barclay Dougal leads Group 3 of the multi-class series in a BMW.

Finally tin-tops are covered with the Mini Challenge for the modern BMW version of this classic marque. Two wins at Silverstone for Jason Richardson places him at the top of the table but they were far from easy and he will be watching his back this weekend. Meanwhile Antony Whorton-Eales took two wins in the Club class but with Dean Raymond hounding him in both races from lights to flag, he will be looking to reverse the situation here.

Tickets for the MSVR Blast in the Park at Oulton Park are available from £10 for adults with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
