Bridewell bangs in top time by just 0.012s in warm up

Sunday, August 10 2014

Tommy Bridewell snatched the top spot in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up session at Oulton Park as the Milwaukee Yamaha pushed Shane 'Shakey' Byrne from the top with his final lap in the damp conditions.

The warm up started with Josh Brookes, Byrne and Ryuichi Kiyonari again swapping positions at the top of the times for the first ten minutes of the session. However when the session reached the final five minutes Brookes held his title rivals at bay, but then Chris Walker upped his pace to fire the Lloyds British GBmoto Racing Kawasaki to the top of the times.

Walker held the position at the top of the times until the final minute of the session when the pack shuffled again as Byrne took the lead, but Bridewell had the extra edge to set the fastest lap in the closing seconds. Brookes leapt up to third ahead of Walker, who was pushed to fourth with Tyco Suzuki's Josh Waters creeping up to fifth.

Tsingtao Kawasaki's Gary Mason was sixth fastest as he had his first chance to ride the Tsingtao Kawasaki in the wet conditions, pushing Michael Rutter to seventh for Bathams BMW and RAF Reserves Honda's Peter Hickman in eighth. An impressive performance from Glen Richards on the Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki saw him move ninth fastest with Jon Kirkham completing the top ten for the Halsall Biker Gear Kawasaki team.
