Wide variety of racing at Oulton Park this Saturday

Tuesday, August 12 2014

Oulton Park hosts a mixture of sports cars, single-seaters and saloons this Saturday (16 August) with a BARC Championships Raceday on the Island circuit.

The Luna Logisitics Classic Formula Ford Championship will star, with enough entries to fill two separate knockout heats, and four contests in total. The top competitors from each heat will progress to the final ad the end of the day. Drivers automatically qualifying for the final will take part in a repechage to fight for the last spots on the final grid.

Classic Formula Ford's slicks-and-wings cousin, Formula Ford 2000, will also be in action. Notable former competitors in the more powerful Formula Ford variant include Ayrton Senna.

The locally-based CNC Heads Sports/Saloons Championship returns to Oulton Park to fight for the Dave Simpson Trophy. The majority of the cars on the grid are modified production-based models, but there are also special classes for powerful silhouette machines.

Japan's definitive roadster, the Mazda MX-5, will compete in the exciting MAX 5 one-make series. The championship is still wide open in both classes with Jonathan Cryer and Paul Roddison disputing Mk3 honours and Adam Bessell and David Birrell embroiled in a Mk1 scrap, so expect fireworks this weekend.

The line-up will be completed by the BARC Clubmans Championship's single-seater front-engined prototypes.

The paddock will be open, offering spectators the chance to meet the teams and drivers.

Tickets for the BARC Club Car Championships at Oulton Park on 16 August are available on the gate for £14 with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
