Oulton Park will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its famous Gold Cup meeting this month (23-25 August), and you can vote for the best driver to have won the coveted trophy.

The Gold Cup was originally run for Formula 1 and F2 machinery and the circuit soon built up a reputation as a real challenge for drivers. Early winners included World Champions Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Denny Hulme and John Surtees. However the most prolific victor was Sir Stirling Moss, widely acknowledged as the greatest driver never to win the F1 title.

Grand Prix winners Jackie Ickx and Peter Gethin have also lifted the Gold Cup, as has Le Mans legend Derek Bell. Like Gethin, F1 hero David Purley also succeeded when the race was run to F5000 regulations, a class that races on in the present-day Gold Cup's Derek Bell Trophy.

The Gold Cup has also been held for sportscars and touring cars, and Surtees' final victory was in a Maserati 250F, predating the current Gold Cup's historic theme by two decades.

We've picked our top ten from the long list of winners, and we'd like you to help pick the best from almost 50 years of competition. The result will appear in the Gold Cup event programme, and you can register your vote by clicking here.
