Le Mans winner set for Mini Festival debut at Oulton Park

Monday, July 07 2014

Two-time Le Mans winner Darren Turner will make his Mini Festival debut at Oulton Park this weekend (Saturday 12 July) when he is reunited with Swiftune's pre-66 Mini Cooper S for the Kent Cams Cup.

This will be the second time Turner has raced the Mini Cooper S, after competing alongside owner Nick Swift at the Goodwood Revival in 2011.

Aston Martin works driver Turner will be adding his name to a growing list of Mini Festival guest drivers - celebrity chef James Martin, AC/DC's Brian Johnson, and rally legend Stig Blomqvist, have all appeared in Mini Festivals held at Brands Hatch. This weekend will be the first Oulton Park-running of the expanded event.

Turner said: "I'm really looking forward to the Oulton Park meeting. I've driven Nick Swift's Mini once before at the Goodwood Revival, so when I was asked if I would like to do it again I jumped at the chance.

"I'm a little on the back foot as I haven't driven the car for two years and I'll go straight into qualifying at Oulton. That said, if it's half as much fun as last time, it promises to be a tremendous day."

The Oulton Park Mini Festival takes place on Saturday 12 July. Advance tickets are available until midday Wednesday 9 July for £18 with free entry for under 13s. Mini owners can take advantage of some special savings, and so too can Mini clubs.
