Supercars set to headline Easter bonanza at Oulton Park

Friday, March 14 2014

Oulton Park's 2014 schedule kicks up a gear this Easter, with the return of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship on 19 and 21 April. It's the opening round of the championship's season, and is set to provide a weekend of fast cars and family fun.

The British GT Championship is enjoying a golden era, with stunning cars from Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Porsche and many more on track. Last year's title was claimed by Aston Martin driver Andrew Howard by just 1.5 points, with second and third-placed teams separated by another two points.

The racing is renowned for being extremely close, and it is unusual for a driver crew to win more than one round during a season. The last two years have seen last lap dramas at Oulton Park, a track that regularly features amongst the drivers' favourites. The Easter fixture will be headlined by two one-hour races on Bank Holiday Monday, which will include drama-filled pitstops for driver changes.

The entry list is set to include cars representing Crewe's legendary Bentley marque, which returns to sportscar racing a decade on from success at Le Mans. Generation Bentley Racing drivers James Appleby and Steve Tandy have been testing the car recently, including a session at the Cheshire track, and are keen to make a good impression.

A packed support package includes Bernie's V8s, featuring classic American Muscle cars, plus the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge, Ginetta GT5 Challenge, VW Racing Cup, MSVT Trackday Trophy and the Northern Sports and Saloon Car Challenge. The action isn't just restricted to the track, with a supercar display and the annual Oulton Park Easter Egg treasure hunt on Saturday and Monday. There will also be a free pitwalk and autograph session, plus free face painting and a funfair on Easter Monday!

Tickets for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park this Easter (19 & 21 April) are available from £18, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information, call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
