Trio of Fords to further strengthen Super Touring Trophy

Thursday, March 06 2014

The Historic Sports Car Club's Super Touring Trophy, which will race thrice at MSV circuits in 2014, will be further strengthened this season by the addition of three ex-factory Ford Mondeos to the grid.

Prolific historic campaigner Richard Meins will pilot the machine that 1998 champion Rickard Rydell guided to three wins in 2000. The Mondeo was the form car that year so this car could potentially be a front runner!

A brace of 1999 models are also expected to be run by Simon Hadfield's historic racing team. Hadfield has become notable in recent years for preparing front running machines in classic motorsport so these machines should be yet another strong addition to the field.

With several other iconic Super Tourers already lined-up to return to our tracks, including a pair of Renault Lagunas and a clutch of BMW 3 Series, the BTCC's halcyon days are truly set to be revisited at the Oulton Park BTCC (7-8 June) Brands Hatch Historic Superprix (12-13 July) and Oulton Park Gold Cup (23-25 August).
