Oulton Park set for BTCC thriller this weekend

Friday, June 05 2015

Oulton Park hosts rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend (6/7 June) and with just 16 points covering the top six, it's set to be a thriller!

Honda Racing's Gordon Shedden heads the standings and is just eight points ahead of Team BMR's reigning champion Colin Turkington, with a total of 67 points on offer this weekend. Arch-rivals Matt Neal (Honda) and Jason Plato (BMR) are only a few points behind, ahead of MG's Andrew Jordan.

Local hero Adam Morgan, racing for the family WIX Racing squad, is in sixth place, and comes to his home circuit on the back of a win at Thuxton. The Blackburn-based charger is ready to make a big impression, as is local team Speedworks, which fields Tom Ingram and Simon Belcher, via the Handy Motorsport operation.

Ready to break into the top six is the reigning champion WSR BMW squad, which dominated this meeting last year, and they have triple World Champion Andy Priaulx alongside multiple race-winners Rob Collard and Sam Tordoff.

A huge list of potential winners also includes MG's Jack Goff, Exocet Alcosense Racing's Rob Austin and Team BMR's Aron Smith, who won here last year. Power Maxed Racing, formed from local driver Chris Stockton's team, will also be out to build on impressive performances by Josh Cook and Dave Newsham.

The event kicks off on Saturday at 9:05am, with the first BTCC session at 10am and qualifying at 3:20pm. There are three BTCC races on Sunday, and a packed programme of support racing, free pitwalk and autograph session, drivers parade and parachute display team completes a weekend filled with entertainment.
