Brookes back on top in Oulton Park warm up

Sunday, September 06 2015

Josh Brookes was back at the top of the times in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up at Oulton Park, holding off rival Shane 'Shakey' Byrne to claim the leading spot ahead of the second race of the weekend in Cheshire.

The Milwaukee Yamaha rider held the position for the majority of the session with yesterday's race winner Byrne closing to within 0.269s of him as the pair are split by a single point in the Podium Points table with two races today remaining before the Showdown opener at Assen.

John Hopkins climbed to third place on the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati ahead of Tommy Bridewell, who wants to bounce back from his DNF yesterday to secure his position in the top six.

Dan Linfoot was fifth fastest as he bids to move from seventh to the top six in the standings after the two races ahead of Jack Kennedy and Luke Mossey, who also still has an outside chance of the Showdown.

Peter Hickman was eighth fastest for the RAF Reserves BMW team with Michael Laverty and Danny Buchan completing the top ten for Be Wiser Kawasaki after scoring his first podium finish yesterday.
