Ellison: “It is definitely all still to play for ahead of the Showdown”

Thursday, September 03 2015

James Ellison currently holds third place in the MCE British Superbike Championship standings but will be giving it everything to secure a place in the title Showdown at Oulton Park this weekend (4/5/6 September) on his return from injury.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider is a five-time podium finisher this season, but with injury sidelining him from the previous two rounds, it has now put him within striking distance of his rivals who are all pushing for the final four Title Fighter positions at Oulton Park.

Ellison currently has had his margin over fourth placed Tommy Bridewell slashed to just six points ahead of the three races this weekend whilst sixth placed Michael Laverty just 21 points adrift with a maximum 75 points available this weekend.

Ellison said: "I will be back for Oulton Park; I took the cast off over a week ago so I could move it and build the strength up before the race weekend. I have been seeing a specialist and then I have done everything possible to stimulate the muscles and done what I can in terms of training. I have had laser treatment too and have been in the hyperbaric chamber to help stimulate the bone growth.

"Every day is different at the moment but we want to do whatever we can to be in the Showdown. I figure that unless Dan [Linfoot] or Richard [Cooper] win and we have a nightmare weekend we should stay in the top six. We basically need three top ten finishes and anything else is a bonus on our first round back. We have to get into the Showdown because then anything can happen and it is definitely all still to play for."

Tickets for the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park on 4/5/6 September are available on the gate for £10 on Friday, £18 on Saturday and £32 on Sunday.  For more information click here.
