Buchan sets sights on podium return at Oulton Park

Monday, April 18 2016

Danny Buchan is eager to get to the second round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park this May Bank Holiday weekend (April 30 - May 2), arriving with high hopes after scoring his debut podium finish in the series at the Cheshire track last year.

Essex contender Buchan has shown his pace on the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati, scoring a seventh place in the opening race at Silverstone before a problem curtailed his progress in race two. Now the 22-year-old is fully focused on history repeating itself as he counts down the days to the next on track battle.

Buchan said: "I am obviously excited about getting back out at Oulton Park because it feels like forever after Silverstone and I just want to get on track again on the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati. We left Silverstone not finishing the second race because we had a problem but I feel really confident and the bike feels really good. Silverstone has not traditionally been one of my lucky tracks, but Oulton Park was where I scored my first podium finish last season so I am definitely buzzing to get out there on the Ducati.

"We left Silverstone with a lot of positives; we had done some good work on the setting and I really feel comfortable with where we are at and of course, we can only improve that. I feel that Oulton Park should be a stronger circuit for us, and if we hadn't been hit with the issue in race two, we would have come away from Silverstone with two top eight finishes so now my goal has moved forward again.

"I think we should be targeting the podium at the next round for sure; I know that I am capable of it and we have the team and bike to make it happen. I am setting myself goals that are realistic, but at the same time I think the podium is definitely possible at Oulton Park."
