Laverty tops opening Oulton Park MCE BSB test session despite crash

Tyco BMW's Michael Laverty topped the opening MCE British Superbike Championship session of the day at Oulton Park today (Friday), despite a crash in the final few minutes at Lodge, edging out Richard Cooper by 0.181s.

Laverty had snatched the top position in the closing stages from Cooper as the Buildbase BMW rider had been battling for the leading position throughout the opening session of the day at the Cheshire circuit.

Cooper held off Luke Mossey on the Quattro Plant Teccare Kawasaki and Peter Hickman on the leading JG Speedfit Kawasaki. Ryuichi Kiyonari had also begun to move up the order in the final stages of the session to push ahead of Lee Jackson and Jason O'Halloran on the leading Honda Fireblade.

Christian Iddon held eighth place on the Tyco BMW from Tommy Bridewell and Dan Linfoot who completed the top ten.
