Haslam hits top spot as top 16 covered by 0.9s in warm up

Monday, May 02 2016

Leon Haslam hit the top of the times in the final minutes of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up session at Oulton Park as the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider headed another incredibly close timesheet where the top 16 riders were covered by 0.965s.

The pack shuffled continuously in the 15 minute session as several riders took a turn at the top, but in the end it was Haslam who held the position ahead of the opening race at the Cheshire circuit this afternoon.

Haslam held off Luke Mossey, who had held the top spot before the Pocket Rocket improved his pace with James Ellison completing a top three Kawasaki line up. The Tyco BMW team were pushing towards the top in warm up with Christian Iddon holding fourth position ahead of Richard Cooper and the Bennetts Suzuki pairing of Tommy Bridewell and Ryuichi Kiyonari.

Michael Laverty held on to eighth position ahead of John Hopkins and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, who start his 300th race today onboard the Be Wiser Ducati, in a top ten featuring five different manufacturers.
