Procter and Fawcett claim Oulton Park rally spoils

Sunday, November 06 2016

Kevin Procter and co-driver Derrick Fawcett won the Neil Howard Stages Rally at Oulton Park yesterday (Saturday), the opening round of the 2016/17 Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship.

The Ford Fiesta pairing were quickly on the pace at the event, which took place on a variety of layouts that incorporated sections of the track in both directions, plus pits, paddock and access roads. The event also included a spectacular water splash.

Second place was claimed by the Ford Fiesta R5 of James Yates and Tom Woodburn, and completing the podium was even sponsor Graham Coffey and co-driver Victoria Myers.

Fourth-places Paul Swift and Jessica Swift won the D1 class in a Ford Escort Mk2, the highest-placed of the classic rallying machines. In tenth place, Steve Quigley and Peter Littlefield claimed class C in their Renault Clio 172 Cup.

Heading class A was the Vauxhall Corsa of Joe Cunningham and Marc Fowler and in B, Chris Phillips and Sarah Hughes claimed the spoils.

In addition to the rally, there was a host of off-track activities, including rally rides and drives in the venue's Toyota GT86 rally cars, plus children's entertainment and a spectacular stunt driving show from Paul Swift.

The event, which is the last to be held at Oulton Park this season, ended with a big fireworks display to celebrate Guy Fawkes night.
