Oulton Park staffer to make TV acting debut on Coronation Street

Thursday, August 24 2017

Regular Oulton Park visitors watching Bank Holiday Monday's (28 August) episode of Coronation Street may recognise one of the actors from the circuit's famous Chequers Restaurant, as a key member of catering staff makes his TV acting debut.

Sam Wild is Chequers Restaurant Supervisor, and is responsible for managing the team, preparing food and making sure all customers enjoy their meals. He's also a budding actor and has landed a speaking part in the long-running ITV soap, which airs at 19:30 on Monday.

Sam trained at The Arden School of Theatre for three years in acting for live and recorded media, having passed the school's tough audition process, where he was around 1,000 people applying for just 30 places on the course. He remained true to his ambition, focussing on TV work over theatre whilst on the course.

Since his degree, Sam has acted in numerous short films, one including a promotional trailer for a play called Away From Home which toured nationally in 2013. Sam's also done a lot of medical and corporate work with various organisations for training exercises, including Cheshire Police and NHS.

Sam's agent Nyland Management landed him the Coronation Street role, which was Sam's first major TV audition. His overall aim is to become a full time TV actor, working on dramas in the vein of This is England. Some of Sam's favourite shows include The Walking Dead, Stranger Things, and Skins.

Sam said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to have been offered a role on ITV's most popular and longstanding show, and can't wait to get on set and start filming.  The ever-changing and fast-paced career of being a jobbing actor means you never know what's around the corner. Thankfully working for Oulton Park has allowed me to have the flexibility to attend auditions and various jobs whilst at the same time enjoying working in the very different field of catering. I'd like to say a big thanks to my manager Sarah Marshall, Chequers chef Penn Clover and all the rest of the team for their support."
