Oulton Park Easter extravaganza set for official kick off today

Saturday, April 15 2017

The British GT Championship and BRDC British Formula 3 Championship kick off in earnest at Oulton Park this morning (Saturday) with a busy day's action, which includes the first BRDC British F3 race of the season, British GT qualifying, and support races.

More than 30 stunning GT cars from manufacturers including Lamborghini, McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, and Bentley will be in action today across a busy programme of practice and qualifying sessions. Today's GT entertainment will culminate with a nail-biting, split qualifying session during which drivers will have just 15 minutes to set the quickest time possible in a frantic dash around the circuit.

Entries to look out for the reigning champion pairing of Jonny Adam and Derek Johnson in TF Sport's Aston Martin GT3, whilst it will be fascinating to see how BTCC convert Sam Tordoff gets on behind the wheel of a Lamborghini.

In all, there is a wealth of entries across two classes (GT3 and GT4) in the British GT Championship this year, with stunning engine tones, impressive aerodynamic parts, and flame-spitting exhausts - don't miss them!

Proceedings will be co-headlined by the opening race of the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship, following a qualifying session in the morning. BRDC F3 is an established proving ground for young chargers on the path to Grand Prix glory, and they will be eager to impress in their F1-style single-seaters.

This stage is set perfectly for BRDC British F3 in 2017, with home-grown talents such as Enaam Ahmed, Ben Hingeley, and Toby Sowery facing off against international stars from France, South Africa, America, Germany, Romania, Kenya, and other nations too. There's even a famous name on the grid in Manuel Maldonado, cousin of infamous F1 race-winner Pastor.

Plus, there is a busy support programme today, with one-make Ginetta action, qualifying for the MINI CHALLENGE JCW class, and an eclectic double-header from the Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship.
