Winter improvements carried out at Oulton Park

Friday, February 17 2017

Improvements for competitors, participants and spectators have been carried out at Oulton Park over the winter, with a strong emphasis on safety enhancements at the Cheshire circuit.

Following works carried out at Island bend last season, Britten's chicane, which follows the Shell hairpin on the International circuit has been improved for both participants and spectators. The run-off has been doubled in depth, with improved drainage and new Armco installed. Behind this a raised viewing area has also been created, increasing spectating opportunities on the outside of the circuit.

At the other end of the track, run-off at the challenging Druids double-apex corner has also been doubled, with improved drainage. The viewing experience here has also been enhanced, with the tree line moved back about 70 metres on the inside of the corner.

New Oulton Park Circuit Manager, Jon Rush said: "Whilst I can't take the credit for starting these works, it has certainly been very satisfying to complete this series of winter circuit works and especially so given the scale and quick turnaround time.

"As ever, progressing circuit safety is a constant priority for MSV and everyone involved is rightly pleased with the result. Thanks goes out to all staff, contractors and licensing bodies that have contributed to completing these works in time for the 2017 season."
