Track walk to raise funds for Billy Monger at Oulton this Saturday

Tuesday, May 16 2017

Oulton Park will be holding a track walk on Saturday evening (20 May) in aid of Formula 4 racer Billy Monger at this weekend's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship event.

Billy has received an overwhelming amount of support from the motorsport community since his life-changing accident at Donington last month, in which both of his lower legs were amputated. A fund has been set up to help his rehabilitation and exceeded its initial target within days.

A charity track walk was held on the Saturday evening of the Thruxton rounds, and following this there has been strong support for a 'northern track walk'. Following discussions with track walk organisers Power Maxed Racing, Oulton Park will be open to those wishing to take part this Saturday once competitive action has finished for the day.

The track walk is open to anyone with a Weekend or Saturday ticket for the event. Access to the track will be at the Avenue crossing, located near the Fogarty Moss Centre at approximately 6.45pm, subject to the track being clear after racing.

Those taking part will be asked to contribute to Billy's fund, and members of the Power Maxed BTCC team will have collection buckets for donations.

Adam Weaver of Power Maxed Racing said: "The support for Billy and the track walk in aid of him, thought up by my 10 year old Son, Alfie, has been fantastic. I've been swamped with requests to organise another at Oulton and I'm extremely pleased that the staff at MSV have given it their full support to be able to do so. It will be phenomenal if we can raise what we did before and more!"
