Wales Rally GB to celebrate 75th anniversary at Oulton Park

Thursday, July 11 2019

Oulton Park will play host to a unique 75th anniversary rally car display on Thursday 3 October to coincide with the opening special stage of the 2019 Wales Rally GB, which returns to the Cheshire venue for the first time since 1993.

The rally takes place on a layout incorporating the picturesque circuit and the venue's own rally course, offering spectators an opportunity to experience the latest generation of superfast World Rally Cars.

The 75th anniversary showcase will feature stand-out cars from the rally's colourful past, and will be a highlight of the evening's spectacular opening competitive stage. Iconic cars from past eras will include significant Ford Escorts, Group B machines and race-winners rallied by British heroes Colin McRae and Richard Burns.

The milestone marks 75 years since the inaugural Royal Automobile Club Rally in 1932, which finished in Torquay. Since then it has enjoyed an illustrious history, including entries from F1 champions Graham Hill and Jim Clark in 1966, Timo Mäkinen's dominance in the mid-1970s and Sébastien Ogier becoming the first five-time winner in 2018.

The event will also feature a full evening of entertainment, with appearances from World Rally legends, live music and DJs and an autograph session open to all spectators. Visitors will be able to watch drivers complete two recce runs in their WRC cars before rally action commences shortly after 7pm.

The evening event will be the curtain-raiser for round 12 of the 2019 FIA World Rally Championship, with 22 special stages totalling more than 200 miles of world class against-the-clock competition.

Tickets for the Oulton Park special stage are available in advance only, priced £25 with free admission for children aged 15 and under. For more details and to book, click here.
