Avon Tyres British GT Championship contenders Beechdean Motorsports have announced their return to the series this season with a 2013 specification Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. The car will once again by driven by Team Principal Andrew Howard and Jonny Adam.
The driver pairing have taken three wins in the highly competitive series since 2011, including the V12 Vantage's debut victory last year, and former British Touring Car racer Adam is highly rated amongst the field. His reputation was boosted at Brands Hatch last year when he clawed back a deficit of 25 seconds in 28 laps to miss out on first place by just 0.022 seconds, the closest finish in the championship's history.
Beechdean Motorsport Team Principal and Driver Andrew Howard said: "Last season was very much an exploratory year for the team, myself and Jonny. We had good pace throughout the year and we're very much looking forward to going racing in 2013 against some of the best in Europe. The series itself has taken a leap forward and is fast looking like it will be the best GT championship in Europe at this rate. It should be a great year."
"I can't wait to get out there in 007 again", added Johnny Adam. "Beechdean is a super team and I enjoy racing with Andrew. Last year we proved we had the pace and possibly should've come away with more wins, but that is racing. Driving the Aston Martin is a joy, and I'm really looking forward to the new season."
The 2013 specification Vantage GT3 is fitted with a modified version of Aston Martin's production 6.0 litre V12 engine, producing more than 600 bhp. Beechdean's announcement is expected to be followed by further representation for the legendary British marque, which celebrates its centenary this year.
The Avon Tyres British GT Championship kicks off at Oulton Park on 30 March and 1 April, and will visit Snetterton 300 on 8/9 June and Brands Hatch GP on 10/11 August. Tickets are available from £18, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click on the links.
