Oulton Park set for BRSCC visit

Monday, July 18 2011

There's a feast of single-seater, saloon and sports car action at Oulton Park on Saturday 30 July.

Formula Ford has launched the careers of hundreds of racing drivers over the last 40 years and the cars live on in the BRSCC's Formula Ford championships. The Northern series returns to Oulton Park as the title race heats up.

John Murphy protects a narrow lead over Martin Short and Jamie Jardine in the post 89 class, whilst Jeff Hodgson and Nigel Dolan will be aiming to cut into John Loebell's lead over the pre 90 cars.

The action is just as fraught in the Alfa Romeo Championship and with seven rounds gone, Mel Healey's 33 leads a close leaderboard from Steve Dymoke's 146 and Neil Smith's 156. The series has been in existence for over 30 years, and the cars range from a similar period.

There's a great deal of variety in the Euro Saloon & Sportscar Championship, with Touring Cars, homologation specials, one-make racers, modified and production cars lining up on the grid over five classes. Overall, Andy Jordan leads, driving a Renault, with Richard Hawken in a Nissan and Nick Hayes in a Seat chasing him down.

The pure racing cars in the new Saker Challenge will be spectacular around the Cheshire circuit. The 270bhp sports-prototype styled machines round off a superb day of action.

Tickets for the BRSCC Club Championships at Oulton Park are available from £10, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. To book, call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
