Action on two and four wheels gets Oulton season underway

Wednesday, February 03 2016

Oulton Park's 2016 season gets underway next month (March), with two racing events for car and bike fans on the International circuit. Tickets for both are now on sale.

Getting the season started will be the British Automobile Racing Club on Saturday 19 March, and its opening event of 2016 will be a treat for fans of motoring classics. Two European icons are included on the bill, with the MG Owners Club Championship celebrating the British marque in style, with everything from MGBs and Midgets to sporting saloons on track. At the other end of the scale, France's enduring Citroen 2CVs may take longer to lap the track, but close competitive racing is a hallmark of the 2CV championship.

Japan's take on the MG, the MX-5 also features courtesy of the MaX 5 Championship for old and new generations of the modern day roadster. An eclectic mixture of machinery will also take to the undulating Cheshire circuit for the BARC Sports Cars series. Click here for more information, including booking details.

The focus switches to bikes on Good Friday 25 and Saturday 26 March, with seven different classes of racing throughout the two day event. These include the Metzeler Newcomer 600cc and 1000cc categories for rookie competitors, Pirelli Super Series, plus No Limits Cup and Pre Injection 600cc and 750cc/1000cc classes. There will also be an endurance race on Good Friday afternoon with teams of riders competing for honours. The event organisers have been overwhelmed by entries and will also be running a set of three all-comers races on the Saturday. Click here for more information.

Easter weekend will also include the new family-themed Easter Funday event on Monday 28 March, with a huge variety of off-track attractions including children's entertainers, jousting, village games, artisan traders,  driving experiences, plus car racing on the Fosters circuit.
