Mercedes and Lamborghini claim British GT poles at Oulton Park

Saturday, April 20 2019

Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini GT3 machines will start from pole position in Oulton Park's two Easter Monday British GT Championship races, after each topping a session in this afternoon's (Saturday) split qualifying period.

Ian Loggie topped the GT3 Am session for gentleman drivers in his Mercedes-AMG, to secure the best possible starting berth for the first of Monday's races, before Phil Keen went quickest in the GT3 Pro session in his Lamborghini Huracan to secure pole position for race two.

Local manufacturer Bentley has secured a front row start for the season opener with Ryan Ratcliffe trailing Loggie by just over half a second.

Sam De Haan's Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO was third in the GT3 Am session, with 2017 champion Rick Parfitt fourth in the Bentley Continental GT3, just ahead of Dominic Paul, who ensured the BMW M6 GT3 will start from the top-five on its Britsh GT debut.

For race two, Callum Macleod secured another strong starting position for the machine he shares with Loggie, qualifying second, just ahead of Adam Christodoulou in the grids other Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Seb Morris emulated co-driver Parfitt to give his Bentley another fourth-place start, whilst Jonny Cocker completed the top-five in the car he shares with De Haan.

Reigning champion Jonny Adam could be one to watch on Monday as hes forced to start from 10th in both races in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT3 he's piloting with Graham Davidson.

Wild horses ran rampant in the GT4 qualifying sessions, with a double pole position for the new Ford Mustang. Scott Maxwell and Jade Buford secured a one-two for the muscle car derived racer in the GT4 Am session, whilst Seb Priaulx - son of multiple World Touring Car Champion Andy - bested Mercedes-AMG racer Scott Malvern in the GT4 Pro session.
