BTCC FP2: Rowbottom powers to top spot at Oulton Park

Saturday, June 11 2022

Team Dynamics Honda driver Daniel Rowbottom set the fastest time of the day in the second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship practice session at Oulton Park.

Rowbottom, a BTCC race winner at the circuit last year, was just 0.059s quicker than Hyundai's Tom Ingram, who moved up to second with his final lap.

A brief bit of drizzle midway through the session halted progress at the top for a while, but other late laps from Ingram's teammate Dan Lloyd and Infiniti contender Aiden Moffat proved that track conditions were still very good by moving up the order to third and fourth respectively, and within a quarter of a second of the pace.

Rowbottom's teammate Gordon Shedden held second place early on but wound up fifth, with Rory Butcher the lead Toyota driver in sixth and 0.064s away.

Adam Morgan was the highest placed BMW runner with seventh place for the Ciceley Motorsport squad, 0.012s ahead of Bobby Thompson, who like in the first session, held the fastest time early on in his Cupra Leon.

Ricky Collard was inside the top-10 again for Toyota, with Jake Hill completing the top-10 in his BMW 330e M Sport.

The top-10 were covered by less than half a second, with 21 drivers within a second of the pace. Session one pace setter and championship leader Josh Cook was only 17th this time around.

Qualifying for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship is scheduled for 15.30.
