Huge entry for Neil Howard Stage Rally at Oulton Park

Friday, May 21 2021

Oulton Park's Neil Howard Memorial Stage Rally is set to return in style with a superb entry of more than 150 cars on next weekend's bank holiday Monday (31 May).

As ever, the event will act as a round of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship, but the line-up has expanded to include the British Rally Championship (BRC) for the first time. This means that those in attendance can witness the stars of not one, but two of the UK's finest rally competitions.

Spearheading the field will be a strong contingent of manufacturer-built R5 rally cars, from marques including Ford, Hyundai, Skoda, Proton and Volkswagen. Some of these machines will be driven by the BRC's frontrunners and are likely to figure near the top of the timing sheets.

One of the signature features of this event has always been the eclectic range of cars in action, and that's no different this time. Beyond the R5 cars there's everything from a Porsche 911 GT3 to examples of the Darrian T90 specialist competition car. There will be examples of the Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo in action too, plus real retro favourites like the MkII Ford Escort.

Unlike traditional circuit racing events at the Cheshire venue, participants will take on a challenging series of bespoke rally stages, each comprising sections of the track and interior access roads. The signature water splash will be back too, offering those in attendance with a fantastic photo opportunity.
