British former winner targets glory ahead of Oulton Park stage

Monday, September 23 2019

Welshman Elfyn Evans is targeting success on his return to rallying at this year's Wales Rally GB, when the first stage kicks off at the Wales Rally GB Dayinsure Oulton Park Stage on 3 October.

A back injury picked up in July's Rally Estonia event forced Evans to sit out of the World Rally Championship missing Rally Finland, Germany and Turkey, dropping Evans from fourth to ninth in the standings.

However, now fighting fit the M-Sport driver will be gunning for glory on home soil behind the wheel of his #33 Ford Fiesta WRC.

Having previously enjoyed success at Wales Rally GB the 2017 event winner will be aiming for the top-step of the podium for his first outing since the Italian round of this year's championship.

"I can't tell you how good it is to be back," Evans said. "Sitting on the sidelines has been a nightmare, but that's done now and I'm only looking forward. And I'm really fired up to being back in the car at home."

"Whenever you go to an event you always want to get the maximum that's possible and this rally is no exception. As ever, we'll be aiming for the podium and, ultimately, the goal is to finish on the top step."

This year's Oulton Park event will be a fantastic family occasion with Monster Gymkhana, a music stage, the Dayinsure Fun Zone and a special display of iconic Rally GB vehicles.

All tickets for the Oulton Park stage must be purchased in advance by 30 September with adult admission priced at just £25 with hospitality also available for those seeking the ultimate experience.
